American Painted Lady August 2012 irruption in MA

A painted lady butterfly feeding during a late summer irruption on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in August 2012. Both painted ladies and red admirals had eruptions this year and were seen in great numbers in the northeastern United States and Canada. The painted ladies had an unusual late summer brood.
