Mount Monadnock Rime Ice 8840

Mount Monadnock Rime Ice 8840

Rime ice formed by freezing fog coats high-elevation spruce trees on Mount Monadnock. Wachusett Mountain is visible on the horizon in central Massachusetts.

Mount Monadnock is one of the world's most-climbed mountains. Its barren summit was cleared by storms and a large fire likely set in the 19th century to eradicate wolves. All six New England states are visible from the summit.
