Kemp's Ridley turtles at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Kemp's Ridley turtles at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Cold-stunned Kemp's Ridley turtles being stabilized after being recovered from Cape Cod Bay beaches in November 2014. During this time a record number of more than 1200 sea turtles, mostly Kemp's Ridleys, were similarly stranded on Cape Cod beaches. These turtles were then moved to the New England Aquarium in Quincy for further treatment. The turtles were subsequently flown to aquariums and treatment centers in the South to be released in warm ocean waters.
